Hi, I’m Nicole

I am a creative photographer focused on stories of humanity.

As an aspiring artist, I am working towards a thoughtful understanding of social practices and creating beautiful imagery, specifically speaking to those who feel unseen.

I was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela and lived in Trinidad until immigrating to Texas in 2007.

Fluent in both English and Spanish, my whole life I have expressed my love, my passions, and my beliefs in both languages and through the lens of both cultures.

At my core, I center interpersonal connections, creative collaboration, and humble vulnerability.

I recently completed my BS in Photojournalism and Editorial Photography from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, as well as a minor in Sociology.

My minor in Sociology greatly impacted the way in which I move through the world, putting a vocabulary and understanding to the questions I have about our world’s societies.

In my time as a freelance photojournalist, I’ve had the opportunity to cover the 2023 Houston Pride parade for the American Civil Liberties Union of Texas, incorporating the passion I have for social justice work with my love for photography.

I also contributed consistently over the summer of 2023 as a freelance photojournalist to the non-profit news organization The Houston Landing, learning under the first Latina president of the National Press Photographers Association, Puerto Rican photojournalist Marie De Jesús.

           With love, Nicole
